The WhatsNext verdict

If you enjoy short, whimsical bullet-hells with funny writing and abundant charm, this delivers a distinctive healing-themed spin on the formula. Play it when you want a compact burst rather than a substantial RPG adventure.

What it does best

  • A charming RPG-shmup hybrid that should not work

  • Absurd healing comedy with a genuinely warm heart

  • Healing becomes surprisingly lively bullet-hell combat

  • A vivid retro look impossible to confuse with anything else

What might put you off

  • The adventure is over almost immediately

  • The harsh retro visuals are an acquired taste

The setup

What you are walking into

Remedy, a recent graduate from the Saturnian healing school, must descend to Hurtland and use her powers to heal everyone from stray ducks to dark lords, and finally cure the ailing Prince Hingst. It's a short, whimsical adventure with plenty of heart(s). This game was one of Ludosity's entries in the Games Against Ebola charity game jam in 2014. This version was made after the jam to include options, multiple savefiles, more difficulty levels, and gamepad support.
